Description	:	Patricia A. (Post) Evans-Austin, 88 December 13, 1931 ~ November 11, 2020 Patricia was born December 13, 1931 in Sodtown, Nebraska to Ross and Wilma (Fetherston) Post. She was raised in Shelton, Nebraska and graduated from Shelton High School in 1949. She then attended Kearney State College. She taught for a year in Elsie, Nebraska. Read More	Patricia A. (Post) Evans-Austin, 88 December 13, 1931 ~ November 11, 2020 Patricia was born December 13, 1931 in Sodtown, Nebraska to Ross and Wilma (Fetherston) Post. She was raised in Shelton, Nebraska and graduated from Shelton High School in 1949. She then attended Kearney State College. She taught for a year in Elsie, Nebraska. On June 15, 1952, Patricia married Wilbur Evans. They were blessed with two children. Sadly, Wilbur Evans passed away in 1986. In 1992 she married Larry Austin. Most of Patricia’s working years were spent as office manager at ADM in Fremont. Patricia was a member of the Fremont First United Methodist Church, Past Worthy Matron of Arbor Vitae Chapter 92 Order of the Eastern Star in Fremont, Daughter’s of the Nile in Omaha and volunteered with the Low Income Ministry in Fremont for several years and loved to garden. Patricia A. Evans-Austin, age 88, of Elkhorn, Nebraska, formerly of Fremont, Nebraska, died Wednesday November 11, 2020 at Elk Ridge Assisted Living in Elkhorn. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Larry, of Elkhorn; daughter Carol (Robert) Lynch of Omaha, NE; step-children: Rev. Larry (Laura) Austin of Ames, IA; Cindi (Brad) Yohe of Cedar Bluffs, NE; Deborah Austin of Las Vegas, NV; Sam Austin of Bullard, TX; Scott (Mary) Austin of Lee’s Summit, MO; Kristine Stock of Frisco, TX; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother Doran (Pat) Post of Kearney, NE; sister Gail (Jim) Anderson of California; nieces and nephews. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Wilbur in 1986, and her son Daniel. The funeral will be 2pm, Friday, November 13, 2020 at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Rev. Larry Austin will officiate. Private burial will take place in Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be Friday from noon until the service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Masonic Eastern Star Home for Children in Fremont. Note: " Sodtown, a cluster of hastily erected, crudely fashioned sod buildings at the crossroads of four section corners in Cherry Creek Township, became the first thriving settlement in the northeast corner of Buffalo County. It was a promising site for a new town in the late 1870's. At the crossroads of Sections 28, 29, 32 and 33, and on the trail between Grand Island and Broken Bow, it was an ideal place for wagon trains and freighting outfits to put up for the night and to feed and rest their horses and oxen. "Although the first post office, established in 1879, the cemetery, and the Presbyterian Church to be later established, were named Cherry Creek, the new settlement was dubbed Sodtown from its very beginning because of its sod buildings - two general stores, blacksmith shop, school house and postoffice, as well as a lumberyard which was part sod and part frame. Today Sodtown remains an important place name in Buffalo County.
