She was born on June 4, 1943, in Armour, to Herschel and Jane (Beeson) McNanar. She attended Armour High School, graduating in 1961. She attended St. Joseph's Nursing School in Mitchell graduating with an LPN in 1963. On Oct. 28, 1967, she married John "Sonny" Stluka in Armour. They moved to a farm north of Lake Andes where they lived their entire married life. She worked as a teacher's aide for Geddes School, Lake Andes School and Lakeview Colony School. She served on the Platte Hospital Board for nine years and the Geddes School Board for many years. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and Altar Society. She is survived by her husband; four children: Greg and wife Dawn, Pierre; Nancy Nordstrom and husband Eric, Fort Pierre; Steve and wife Tabitha, Lake Andes; and Dan and wife Suzanne, Brookings; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter; and her parents.
