Description	:	NEWARK, N.J. — Patricia Jarecke, 65, of Newark, N.J., formerly of Fullerton, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston, N.J. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fullerton. The Rev. Richard Whiteing will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Catholic Cemetery. Palmer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Ms. Jarecke was born Aug. 19, 1948, at Fullerton to John C. and Mae (Tarnick) Jarecke. Survivors of the immediate family include a brother, John M. Jarecke (Deb Zell) of Fullerton, and a sister, Mary Jane Jarecke of Fullerton. She is also survived by two aunts, Lizzy Nowak of Overland Park, Kan. and Esther Tarnick of Columbus, as well as numerous cousins and many wonderful friends. Patty attended St. Peter's Catholic grade school before graduating from Fullerton High School in 1966. After graduation, she attended Creighton University in Omaha, while working for Mutual of Omaha and the Vista Organization. In 1970 she accepted a job offer from Vista, which meant relocating to Newark, N.J. From there she went on to achieve her bachelor's degree; headed the Citizen Coalition on Arson and operated the Alternative School for troubled teens. Later she joined the staff of Youth Services of N.J. and continued to work with numerous charitable organizations as a fundraiser. In 2010 she took a job with "Branch Brook Park Alliance" as an organizer and grant writer. Sadly, this was also the beginning of her long bout with cancer. She made many wonderful friends that she considered family in the 43 years she lived in N.J. The loyalty and love they felt for their friend was evident through the support and care they gave Patty all through her illness. She was an avid reader, outgoing, friendly and loved spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved the trips she and her sister took with friends to Cape Cod every summer. Patty was extremely intelligent and she used that to help others that were less fortunate than most. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Beverly; and many aunts and uncles.
