Funeral services were held at 10:30 AM Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Williams Funeral Home in Edgar with Pastor David King officiating. Interment was at the Edgar Cemetery. Pat was born March 31, 1930 at home in Edgar to Ralph and Fannie (Jeffs) Mileger, the youngest of four siblings: Ralph Jr., Billie (Larson), and Bobbie (Shuck). She attended Edgar Public Schools. In her marriage to Robert Eugene Swanson, she was blessed with four children: Connie, David, Larry and Robin. Bob and Pat raised their family on a farm east of Edgar. Pat enjoyed spending time with family and friends – many a cup of coffee was shared at Pat's table. She was an avid bowler throughout her life, traveling to and winning many competitions. Pat was a loyal Cornhusker football fan; during their marriage, she and Bob were season ticket holders and traveled with friends to many bowl games. For a time, Pat was the owner of Pat's Pub in Edgar. Pat was dedicated to her family and found great pleasure in her connections – whether through long-distance conversations with son Larry and family, or being in the midst of her daughter Robin's family in Edgar. Pat could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. She took numerous trips to Pittsburgh to help daughter Connie and family during the illness of Connie's husband Bob. She spent years living in Omaha with niece Pam helping care for Pam's young son Andy. She moved to Colorado then to Arkansas to live with her son David and daughter-in-law Celia to help out when granddaughter Kyndall was born. She eventually settled back in Edgar to be close to daughter Robin, her two sisters Bobbie & Billie, and her many nieces and nephews. She was a lifelong member of the Edgar Christian Church. Pat will be missed as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Pat was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Fannie Mileger, brother Ralph Jr. Mileger, the father of her children Robert Swanson, daughter Connie and husband Robert Stych, son David Swanson, and two brothers-in-law, Chet Larson and Bill Shuck. She is survived by her son Larry and wife Pam Swanson of Missoula, MT; daughter Robin and husband Ed Skinner of Edgar; ten grandchildren: Stephanie Koory, Jeff and Jason Stych, Kyndall Swanson, Spencer and Dustin Swanson, Tim and Amy Horst, Abby Schendt, and Patrick Skinner; ten great grandchildren: Chase and Corbin Koory, Jaxon and Jaycee Stych, Hudson, Landon, And Ashton Stych, Taylor Horst, Anders Rusch, and Olivia Schendt. She is also survived by her sisters Billie Larson and Bobbie Shuck both of Edgar; multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews and a host of friends.
