Description	:	Patricia Marie McDermott, age 84, of O’Neill, was called up to God early Thursday morning, July 31st, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on June 19, 1930, on the Feast of Corpus Christi, to John and Jessie (Dryer) Bestgen on the family farm north of Sturgis, SD. Patricia graduated from St. Martin’s Academy in Sturgis before receiving her degree in nursing from St. Johns School of Nursing in Rapid City, SD. Read More	Patricia Marie McDermott, age 84, of O’Neill, was called up to God early Thursday morning, July 31st, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on June 19, 1930, on the Feast of Corpus Christi, to John and Jessie (Dryer) Bestgen on the family farm north of Sturgis, SD. Patricia graduated from St. Martin’s Academy in Sturgis before receiving her degree in nursing from St. Johns School of Nursing in Rapid City, SD. She worked as a registered nurse at several institutions and owned businesses in O’Neill and Sturgis. Patricia married the love of her life, Thomas P. McDermott on June 25, 1952 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sturgis, SD. To this union ten children were born; Gina, Kathleen, Marcy, Marijo, Jessie, Lisa, Colette, Mark, Tom and Amy. Patricia’s primary job was raising her family and being a loving mother and grandmother. She loved to read and sing songs with them. Her home was always open and she made everyone feel like family. Patricia was devoted to her religion and spirituality. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Confraternity of the Rosary, very active in Right to Life, and a past member of the St. Francis Altar Society. Patricia is survived by her husband of 62 years: Thomas of O’Neill, NE, 10 Children: Gina Chilson and husband, Jim of Florence, SD, Kathleen Klabenes of O’Neill, NE, Marcy Cleem and husband, Allan of Pembina, ND, Marijo Klabenes and husband, Greg of Inman, NE, Jessie Zaharia and husband, Dan of St. Marys, KS, Lisa Timmerman and husband, Tim of O’Neill, NE,Colette Sherman of O’Neill, NE, Mark McDermott of O’Neill, NE, Tom McDermott of Atkinson, NE and Amy Pavlik and husband, Kent of Verdigre, NE, 49 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren; 1 Sister: Connie Gray of Hill City, SD; 2 Brothers: Phillip Bestgen and Steve Bestgen and wife Norma, all of Whitewood, SD. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and 3 sisters. Visitation will be Sunday, August 3rd, 2014, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill, with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary. A Requiem Mass for will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 4th, 2014, in the St. Theresa Catholic Church in O’Neill, with burial in the St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery in O’Neill.
