Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of the late Bobby Dean Thompson and daughter of the late Whitt Humphries and Marie Sellars Humphries. She was a homemaker and member of Limestone Street United Methodist Church. Surviving are two sons, Jonathan Thompson and wife, Christine of Boiling Springs, S.C. and Thomas Neal Thompson of Saluda, S.C.; two daughters, Beth Lawrence of Gaffney and Carol Ellen Wilkes and husband, Jeffrey of Anderson, S.C.; two sisters, Mary Beam of Gastonia, N.C. and Evelyn Hughes of Gaffney, S.C.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Owens, a son, Robert Briar Thompson, a brother, Joseph "Joe" Humphries and three sisters, Ann Broome, Jean Guthrie and Frances Starnes. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Singleton officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
