Patty was born on January 1, 1956, in the City of Orange, CA, to Ray and Ruth Hale. She grew up in East Bakersfield, graduating from East Bakersfield High School in 1973. Patty was born on January 1, 1956, in the City of Orange, CA, to Ray and Ruth Hale. She grew up in East Bakersfield, graduating from East Bakersfield High School in 1973. Patty is survived by her husband and companion Matt Rolow; and son Dalton Rolow of Portland OR; mother Ruth Hale of Macdoel, CA; sisters Cindy Sohm of Canyonville, OR; and Teresa (Mark) Cumberland of Virginia City, NV; brothers Micky Hale of Roseburg, OR; and Jerry (Tammy) Hale of Bakersfield, CA; and also by nephews Ryan Conner of Beaverton, OR, Evan (Melissa) Wise of Weed,CA, Jess Hale of Bakersfield, CA; and grandniece and grandnephew Sabrina and Cole Wise. Patty is preceded in death by her father Ray Hale; nephew Jonathan Conner; niece Mackenzie Tyler Watts; nephew Cory Harding; and grandmother Mabel Tumbleson. Patty had a lifelong love of horses. She loved to ride and spent a good portion of her growing up years In Bakersfield, down at the old Stockdale Stables at the foot of the Panorama Bluffs as a true cowgirl. She loved to laugh and have fun. Above all else, Patty loved her family and was deeply proud of being a great mother to her son Dalton. She was incredibly bright, extremely energetic, hardworking and willing to jump in and help out anyone whether she was asked or not. Those who knew her knew that once she set out to help or do something for someone, they’d be getting every ounce of her heart and soul in that effort! In the family she was always the one everyone turned to “fix” and get things done! She was, in many ways, the family matriarch. Patty was truly grateful for the love and support she received throughout her illness and was especially pleased when her nephew Ryan Conner and her niece Marlene Uribe were by her side. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. at Lakeside [Lakeview] Cemetery in Macdoel, CA, where she will be laid to rest with her father Ray, nephew Jonathan, niece Mackenzie and grandmother Mabel Tumbleson. A celebration will be held at The Klamath Basin Brewery in Klamath Falls, Oregon, immediately following the graveside service. (Obit published in the Roseburg, OR "The News-Review" on April 3, 2015.) It was published in the Klamath Falls, Oregon "Herald and News" on May 14, 2008: Marvin "Ray" Hale passed away on May 7, 2008, in Bakersfield, Calif., with loving family by his side. Born on Jan. 26, 1932, in Hornbeck, La., to Evelyn Phillips Hale, he grew up with two brothers and two sisters Raymond Hale of Killeen, Texas, and Helen Fearn of Vici, Okla., who both survive him, and Jimmy Hale and Billie Lou Hale Combs, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his grandson Corey Harding of Erwinville, La., and his granddaughter Mackenzie Watts of Bakersfield. Ray led a colorful life, enlisting in the United States Air Force on his 16th birthday. He was stationed at Edwards Air Force Base and told of watching early test flights of pilot Captain Chuck Yeager. He was proud of his amateur boxing career in the military, compiling a 20-2 record, which was highlighted by defeating the Kansas State Golden Gloves Champion. He was a Veteran of Foreign Wars, having participated in the Berlin Airlift. Ray was a hardworking man, making his living for many years in the oilfields, including working on one of the first two off-shore drilling rigs in Alaska. He then worked in the construction trades and later in life delivered the U.S. mail to rural communities in the Butte Valley, Calif., area. Ray loved his family fiercely. He was a voracious reader of history, played an unbeatable game of pool, and was quite a horseman. Ray never met a stranger. In addition to numerous nieces and nephews, he is survived by his wife Ruth Hale of Macdoel, Calif., and their five children, who all grew up in East Bakersfield. They are Mickey Hale, Jerry Hale and his wife Tammy, and Cindy (Conner) Sohm of Bakersfield, Patty Rolow and her husband Matt of Roseburg, Ore., and Teresa (Wise) Cumberland and her husband Marc of Virginia City, Nev. He is also survived by his five grandsons of whom he was immensely proud: Jonathan Conner and his wife Cassie of Bakersfield, Ryan Conner of Portland, Ore., Evan Wise and his wife Melissa of Charlotte, N.C., Jess Hale of Bakersfield, and Dalton Rolow of Roseburg, Ore., and great-grandchildren Sabrina and Cole Wise of Charlotte, N.C. He will be laid to rest by Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd of Klamath Falls, Ore., at the Lakeview Cemetery in Macdoel, Calif., on Saturday, May 17, where his mother-in-law Mabel Tumbleson and granddaughter Mackenzie are also buried. His family loved him very much and he will be deeply missed.
