Description	:	Patrick A. MONAGHAN Patrick was born May 10, 1910, near Monti, to William J. and Martha Carr Monaghan. He was raised east of Monti and educated at St. Mary's rural school. Patrick was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Casey on Sept. 23, 1937, at St. John's Catholic Church in Coggon. Seven children were born to this union. They farmed near Monti in Buchanan County and in 1946 moved to Delaware County, where they continued farming until retirement. Mary Ellen died Oct. 29, 1999. MONAGHAN Patrick was born May 10, 1910, near Monti, to William J. and Martha Carr Monaghan. He was raised east of Monti and educated at St. Mary's rural school. Patrick was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Casey on Sept. 23, 1937, at St. John's Catholic Church in Coggon. Seven children were born to this union. They farmed near Monti in Buchanan County and in 1946 moved to Delaware County, where they continued farming until retirement. Mary Ellen died Oct. 29, 1999. Patrick had resided at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester since April 1998. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monti, where he had served as a longtime trustee. Patrick was also a member of the Holy Name Society and honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus. Pat was proud of his Irish heritage. He enjoyed visiting family and friends and playing cards. Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Prager and husband Lee of Elk Grove, Ill., and Colleen Brenke and husband Joseph of Coggon; four sons, Patrick Dean Monaghan of New Haven, Ind., James L. Monaghan and wife Marge of Phoenix, Ariz., Ronald Monaghan of Coggon and Leo Monaghan and wife Diane of Manchester; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen; an infant daughter, Elizabeth Ann; two sisters, Mae Kehrli and Julia Duggan; six brothers, John, George, William, Francis, Walter and Raymond; and his parents. ..Cedar Rapids, IA Gazette
