Danehey and Margaret Lally (sic). ===================================== Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Thursday, February 12, 1942; pg. 1 Obituary Patrick James Danehey was born in Chicago, Ill. March 19, 1852 and died at his farm home near Lawrence, Feb. 4, 1942 at the age of 89 years, 10 months and 15 days. He was the son of Patrick James Danehey who passed away before his sons birth and had a twin brother who died in infancy. Mr. Danehey's Mother, several years later married Edmund J. Clifford of Chicago and to this union four children were born: Neal and Edmund Clifford, Mrs. Richard Kinney and Mrs. Gene McCarthy all of whom preceeded (sic) him in death. At the age of 12 the deceased moved with his parents to Riverside, Iowa where he worked on the railroad and farm until the age of 26, when he came west in a covered wagon, arriving in Nuckolls County in 1880. He first settled East of Lawrence in what was then known as the Expert Place, later moving south of town to the Newman Place. Several years later he purchased the farm south-east of town on which he built the first frame house in the community and in which he lived continuously until his death with the exception of three years following his Mathers death. Up to this time he had never married and after building his house, sent to Iowa for his Parents who made their home with him. On June 28, 1910 he was united in marriage with Margaret A. Lalley of this community and to this union five children were born all of whom with their mother survive him. They are Neal, Owen and Eleanor of Lawrence, Gene of Alliance, and Donald of the U.S. Marine Corps, whose where-abouts at present is unkown, having been stationed in Shanghai before the war started. Also one grandson Delane. Mr. Danehey was widely known throughout this section of the state as a prosperous farmer and stockman. His judgment was rated as among the best. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and sterling character. In the march of time a dear husband and father has gone to the great beyond but his memory will linger until we, too, shall be called. Funeral services were held at St. Stephens Church Friday Feb. 7 at 9 o'clock with Rev. B.J. Haskamp officiating at the Requiem High Mass. Pall bearers were H.B. Menke, F.J. Kathman, B.J. Jurgensmeier, Hiram Rose, Jack Maloney, and Richard Frey, all neighbors or long time friends.
