Description	:	Patrick Keenan Killed Patrick Keenan, one of the most prosperous and highly esteemed residents of the Buffalo, was instantly killed in a runaway accident near Ryan last Wednesday afternoon. Read More	Patrick Keenan Killed Patrick Keenan, one of the most prosperous and highly esteemed residents of the Buffalo, was instantly killed in a runaway accident near Ryan last Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Keenan, accompanied by his son Daniel Keenan wee hauling lumber from Ryan to the home of the latter. The son was driving ahead of his father who had a high spirited team and everything went well until the Snyder hill, southeast of Barryville was reached when the elder Keenan's team either became frightened by the rattle of the lumber on the wagon or being tormented by flies became unmanageable and started to run down the hill. Mr. Keenan hearing his father's calls to stop the team turned his team to the side of the road and dismounted from the wagon to stop them but before the team reached him his father was thrown on the whipple-trees and instantly killed, his chest being crushed in a horrible manner. There were no marks to show that the wagon passed over the body but there was the mark of a hoof on the jaw, showing that he had been kicked by one of the horses. The horses ran to the Dan Keenan place where Mrs. Keenan succeeded in turning them into the yard. The wagon was completely demolished. Coroner Lawrence of this city was telephoned for and the body removed to the Dan Keenan home. Mr. Keenan was born in Doud county, Ireland, 68 years ago and came to America when about 42 years of age. About 23 years ago he purchased 200 acres of land in Middlefield township, Buchanan county on which he has since made his home. He has since added 200 acres of Delaware county land to his possessions. He was an honest upright citizen and in his death that section looses one of its most enterprising and highly esteemed citizens. Mr. Keenan leaves to mourn his death, his wife and seven children; Daniel, who lives near Masonville; Arthur and Frank who reside on the old homestead; Peter, who lives with his sister, Mrs. Thos. Coleman, near Coggon; Mrs. John Mangold, of Ryan, and Mrs. Daniel Burns of Masonville. The funeral services were held from the Monti church Friday morning, Rev. J. J. Hanley conducting the services.
