Description	:	PATRICK KINNEY was born in 1832 or 1833 according to census and other records. The 1900 census specifies March 1832. He immigrated from Ireland about 1853. In 1854, he married fellow Ireland immigrant, Johanna Gaynor, in Franklin County, Ohio (in the city of Columbus according to his wife's obit). From there they lived in Wisconsin and Illinois, before settling in Giard Township, Iowa, where the family first appears on the 1870 census. Read More	PATRICK KINNEY was born in 1832 or 1833 according to census and other records. The 1900 census specifies March 1832. He immigrated from Ireland about 1853. In 1854, he married fellow Ireland immigrant, Johanna Gaynor, in Franklin County, Ohio (in the city of Columbus according to his wife's obit). From there they lived in Wisconsin and Illinois, before settling in Giard Township, Iowa, where the family first appears on the 1870 census. There he lived until December of 1911 when he succumbed to lung cancer after losing his wife to pnemonia four years prior. Patrick could not read or write, as indicated on census records and by demonstration of his signature on the attached "last will and testament". However, he worked as a Day Laborer and and Railroad Laborer until being listed as a farmer in 1880. He was clearly a motivated man, with and eye for success in America. The plat map from 1886 shows a grand 80 acre farm in Giard Township, near Bloody Run Creek, where most of the children were born. According to 1900 Census: Patrick and Johanna Kinney had 10 children, of which three daughters and one son had sadly died quite young (one of those whose name has now been lost to history): Ellen Kinney-b:1857, Mary Curtin-(1860-1922), Thomas F. Kinney-(1862-1929), Margaret Warwick-(1863-1948), Hannora Kinney-b:1865, Anna Kinney-b:1867, Johanna Mozenett-(1870-1923), David Kinney-(1871-1893) Katherine Tayek-(1875-1976)
