Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 3, at Springdale United Methodist Church, Springdale. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in his memory. Patrick Mark Mayhew was born June 8, 1953, in Iowa City, the son of Roy and Marge (Nash) Mayhew. He graduated from West Branch High School in 1971. He married Theresa Smith on September 20, 1975 in Solon. He farmed until the farm crisis of the 1980's forced he to quit. He then became employed at Proctor and Gamble in Iowa City 26 years, until retiring in 2014. He was an Eagle Scout, Scoutmaster and was active in Boy Scout Troop 156 in West Branch guiding many Scouts in learning valuable skills. He spearheaded the restoration and revitalization of the Hoover Scout Trail. He was an active member at Springdale United Methodist Church in Springdale. He loved a good laugh and being outdoors.He could be counted on for any task, always with a smile. He loved to travel and had seen all 50 states and several parts of Canada. He was known for his grins and infectious giggle He loved playing with his children and grandchildren, camping, canoeing, card games, Scout adventures and rubbing candy at Christmas. He enjoyed music and drama performances and cheering on football, soccer, baseball and wrestling. He attended every school event of his children and many of he grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Theresa of Solon; two daughters: Melissa (Jason) Grandt of Hoffman Estates, IL, and Margi (James) Boles of West Liberty; one son, Luke (Michelle) Mayhew of Lisbon; 10 grandchildren, Xander, Dawn, Preston, Hunter, Gusi, Maggie, Claire, Matthew, Leila and Mia; one brother, Mike (Lynn) Mayhew of Eau Claire, WI; one sister, Ruth (Jim) Farmer of West Branch; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother in law, Gary Willey, two nieces, Merrick Ham and Kaitlyn Behr and one nephew, Brett Smith. Henderson-Barker Funeral Home
