Patrick, the son of Moses and Mary McDonnell, was born Feb. 16, 1867 on the family homestead in Garryowen. He was never married and always followed the occupation of farming. Mr. McDonnell was a faithful member of the Catholic church and died fortified by the last rites of the religion he espoused. Surviving are his brothers, and sister, Moses, Jeremiah, James, and Miss Kate McDonnell, at home, and Mrs. Jerry Anglin and Mrs. Martin Crane, both of Maquoketa. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters. The body was transferred from the Devaney Funeral home to the family residence in Garryowen from where services were conducted on Wednesday morning at nine o'clock to St. Patrick's church, with interment in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. P. F. Malone officiated at the mass of requiem and at the graveside.
