They were Patrick O’Connell (memorial #48523845), David O’Connell (memorial #95305624), Bridget (O’Connell) Cronin (memorial #48330162) and Johanna (O’Connell) Flynn Bennett (memorial #48373613). A fifth sibling John O’Connell likely died in Ireland. His wife Honora (Kennevane) Griffin (memorial #34036363) settled in Bremer County with her five O’Connell children, Patrick, Bridget, Richard, Mary and Michael and her second husband, Patrick Griffin. The 1860 US census shows three O’Connell siblings living next to each other in Waverly, Bremer County in July, 1860. They are David and Catherine (Cleary) O’Connell with two children, Hanora (O’Connell) Flynn and child and Patrick and Catherine (Regan) O’Connell with five children. The 1880 US census shows Patrick and Catherine (Regan) O’Connell with two children living next to his brother David O’Connell and his wife Catherine (Cleary) and their nine children. Brothers Patrick and David O'Connell and their nephew Michael, son of John and Hanora (Kennevane) O'Connell appear on Bremer County Naturalization Form date October 5, 1858. Dodge, (Mrs. Taylor is Kathryn Bowen, daughter of Nora and Philip Bowen); William and Bridget (O'Connell) Scully of Waverly - Bridget (O'Connell) Scully is the daughter of John O'Connell and Hanora Kennevane). These relationships confirm that David O'Connell, Patrick O'Connell, John O'Connell, Bridget (O'Connell) Cronin and Johanna (O'Connell) Flynn are siblings. Sullivan, left Tuesday evening for Waverly, Iowa, to attend the funeral of James Flynn, a cousin of Mrs. Sullivan, who died at his home in Sibley, Iowa Thursday morning, February 13, 1908. Other relatives attending include Mrs. John Sullivan. Mr. James Flynn is the son of Johanna O'Connell (1828-1881) and John Flynn. Mrs. P. E. Sullivan is Bridget O'Connell (1855-1931), the daughter of Patrick O'Connell (1812-1887). Mrs. John Sullivan is Nora O’Connell (1852-1936), the daughter of Bridget (O’Connell) Cronin (1824-1874). For many years a resident of this community, died Saturday September 8th at the home of his sister Kathryn O'Connell, Waterloo of heart disease. Deceased was born at Waverly October 14, 1866 and later moved with his parents to a farm just north of Nashua, where he grew up. Deceased is survived by two brothers and three sisters: John of Raymond, William of Crystal Springs, Mississippi, Ellen, Mrs. John Eckes and Miss Mayme O'Connell of Nashua, and Miss Kathryn O'Connell of Waterloo. From the obituary of John J. Sullivan, Cherokee Evening Times, April 2, 1924 and Waverly Democrat, April 10, 1924 John J. Sullivan (memorial #100588513), twenty seven years ago was the road master of the Illinois Central at Cherokee. He died suddenly at his home in Rockford, Illinois, Monday, March 31, 1924. The funeral will be held from the Catholic Church at Waverly, Iowa. John Sullivan married Nora Cronin (memorial #10025377) at Waverly, Bremer, Iowa on October 7, 1871. Nora Cronin was the daughter of Bridget O'Connell and Owen Cronin. Alice Bowen and Mrs. Ed Taylor (Kathryn Bowen) are the daughters of Nora O'Connell, daughter of Patrick O'Connell. John Eckes is the husband of Ellen O'Connell, daughter of David O'Connell. Will Connell is the son of David O'Connell. Miss Katherine Connell is the daughter of David O'Connell. John Connell is the son of David O'Connell.
