We refer to Paul Bakley, who, by his honest, honorable and strictly upright life, commanded the respect of all who knew him. The deceased had been ill but a short time. He was born in the Province of Bavaria, Germany, August 7, 1822. There he spent his boyhood days and on October 27, 1851, was united in marriage to Miss Catherine Agney. The following year, 1852 they came to America and located near Canton, Stark county, Ohio. They resided there for nine years and removed to Whitley county, Indiana, in 1861. There they resided until 1871 when they came to Boone county, which has been their home ever since. For a number of years they lived in Boonsboro but later removed to their farm in Amaqua township. There were born to Mr. and Mrs. Bakley eleven children, seven sons and four daughters. Five have preceded their father to the grave. Of those surviving are three sons and three daughters as follows: William B, the present mayor of Ogden, Daniel E. of Amaqua township, Mrs. Kate Farley, wife of P.D. Farley, and Mrs. Herbert Last of Amaqua township, Mrs. Chris Harten of Estherville and John of Amaqua township. His wife also survives. All were present at the funeral besides Will Miller of Alden, Iowa, and Henry Miller of Wichita, Kansas, his sister's sons. The deceased was a member of the German Reformed church all his life. The funeral was held from the Evangelical church at Renner Sunday forenoon at 11 o'clock conducted by the pastor. The remains were laid to rest in the Grant township cemetery, in the death of Mr. Bakley the community have lost an honored and respected citizen and the bereaved family have the sincerest sympathy in the hour of their sorrow.
