Read More	OBITUARY - Journal-Gazette, Fort Wayne (IN) - November 22, 2001 PAUL D. GACKENHEIMER, 88, died Tuesday at Wabash Skilled Care Center. Born in Wabash, the son of Emanuel and Emma P. Schmidt Gackenheimer. On August 23, 1937 he married Bonita Crow in Wabash. Paul graduated from Wabash High School in 1932 and from the Indianapolis College of Pharmacy at Butler University in 1934. He was a member of the Indiana Pharmacy Alliance. By the age of 7 or 8 he was working in the pharmacy founded by his father in 1901. He was a pharmacist from 1936 until 1991 and was president of Gackenheimer Pharmacies Inc. He was a long time member of St Matthew's United Church of Christ, the church choir, Men's Brotherhood and was president of the Consistory during the construction of the new church. Paul was a life member of the Wabash Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He loved to travel. They visited South America, Mexico, Europe and the Holy Land. Surviving are his wife, Bonita; two sons, David E. of Rochester and John H. of Wabash; two sisters, Agnes Hentrick and Mary Helen Friermood, both of Wabash; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren. Services at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew's United Church of Christ, Wabash. Calling from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Avenue Chapel, Wabash. #Burial in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Memorials to the church.
