Description	:	CUMBERLAND,MARYLAND -- Paul Duane Weaver, 78, of 15800 Downing St. (Bel Air), Cumberland, went to be with the Lord, Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, at his home. Born May 25, 1923, in Garrett, Pa., he was the son of the late Robert Weaver and Evelyn (Flowers) Weaver. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, William Henry Weaver, Tec.5 Robert Weaver Jr. , and Sgt. Edward Eugene Weaver, the later two died at the Battle of the Bulge 28 days apart. Read More	CUMBERLAND,MARYLAND -- Paul Duane Weaver, 78, of 15800 Downing St. (Bel Air), Cumberland, went to be with the Lord, Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, at his home. Born May 25, 1923, in Garrett, Pa., he was the son of the late Robert Weaver and Evelyn (Flowers) Weaver. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, William Henry Weaver, Tec.5 Robert Weaver Jr. , and Sgt. Edward Eugene Weaver, the later two died at the Battle of the Bulge 28 days apart. Mr. Weaver was a U.S. Army veteran and served in World War II. His armored division landed on Anzio Beach Head and when the battle cleared, he was one of only three men who survived in his division. As a sergeant and the youngest of four brothers, he served with distinction and was awarded seven battle stars. He was a member of Cresaptown United Methodist Church and the Cresaptown Eagles. He retired from Allegany Ballistics Laboratory in 1981, where he was a member of the Chemical Workers Union. He spent his retired winter months with his wife in Arizona as a snowbird. Surviving are his wife, Mary H. (Dawson) Weaver, Cumberland; a son, Duane Paul Weaver and wife Robin of Oakland; a daughter, Carol Ann McKenzie and husband Michael, Rawlings; two sisters, Evelyn Kerns, Cumberland, Mary Lease and husband David, Bowman's Addition, Cumberland; a grandson, Kenneth D. McKenzie and wife Michelle K., Rawlings; three granddaughters, Ann M. Abe and husband Fred, Glen Oaks, Mary E. Haught and husband Frank, Lumberport, W.Va., Michelle C. McKenzie Duncan and husband Tom, Columbia, S.C.; one great-grandson, Freddie Abe and a great-granddaughter, Skyler McKenzie, who were both very special, and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday, 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted on Tuesday, 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Harold McClay Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
