Description	:	Paul E. Kelly, 86, of Holton, died, Sunday, May 20, 2012 at the Holton Community Hospital. He was born March 6, 1926 at Whiting, the son of James and Mary Moss Kelly. He graduated from Holton High School in 1944. He attended Kansas State University where he received a Bachelor's Degree in 1951 and a Master's Degree in Music Education in 1966. Read More	Paul E. Kelly, 86, of Holton, died, Sunday, May 20, 2012 at the Holton Community Hospital. He was born March 6, 1926 at Whiting, the son of James and Mary Moss Kelly. He graduated from Holton High School in 1944. He attended Kansas State University where he received a Bachelor's Degree in 1951 and a Master's Degree in Music Education in 1966. Paul was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He served aboard the U.S.S. Omaha and the U.S.S. Little Rock at Recife and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. While in the Navy, he was a student at the Navy School of Music in Anacostia, D.C., and sang in the Catholic section of the Great Lakes Choir Company. Paul taught instrumental and vocal music in the public school sytem for all grade levels for 18 years. He taught at Wilsey, Circleville, Soldier, Havensville, Portland, Oregon, Pratt and Topeka. After retiring from teaching he sold real estate and factory built homes, retiring in 1994. He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton, and an Honorary Life Member of Holton Knights of Columbus Council No. 4219 and William T. Jochems Assembly of the 4th Degree in Atchison. He was a Life Member of the Holton American Legion Post No. 44 and Holton Memorial Post No. 1367 of the V.F.W. Paul played with the Matt Betton Band and the Stan Broadhurst Quartet in Manhattan and the Paul Kelly Quintet Band in Topeka. He married Marilyn J. Riley on June 28, 1955 at Holton. Paul was preceded in death by 3 brothers, John Kelly, George Kelly and Leo Kelly, and two sisters, Mary Wissler and Adaline Grannell. Survivors include four sons, Timothy Kelly, Topeka, Thomas Kelly and wife Annette, and Sean Kelly, all of Holton, and Brendan Kelly and wife Deb, Shawnee, KS; six grandchildren, Hillary Lolley, Pamela King, Rodney Gaston, Mackenzie Kelly, Jack Kelly, and Emily Babcock, and two great grandchildren, Parker and Pearson Lolley. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 24th at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, west of Holton.
