Description	:	Paul K. Vance, 72, of West Fargo, died Thursday, February 26, 1998 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Fargo. Funeral services were held Monday, March 2, 1998 at West Funeral Chapel, Rev. Ernest Stadum officiate. Kim Vance was soloist and Michael Olson was organist. Casket bearers were Military Order of the Cooties. The West Fargo VFW post 7f564 provided full military honors. Burial was at Bethlehem Cemetery, McHenry. Burial was at Bethlehem Cemetery, McHenry. Paul Vance was born March 25, 1925, at Plymouth, Ill. He moved with his family that year to Cummings, N. D. where his father started a lumber business. They later lived in Dazey, Hannaford, Cooperstown and McHenry. He was confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in McHenry, and graduated from high school in McHenry in 1943. He entered the U. S. Navy in 1943 and was discharged in 1946. Paul managed Crane Johnson Lumber in Hannaford for 20 years. He moved to West Fargo and managed the Crane Johnson Lumber in West Fargo for 13 years, and later managed the United Building Center in Wheaton, Minn. for 12 years. He retired and moved back to West Fargo in 1989. He was very active in VFW and was elected the State Commander for 1976 and 1977. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fargo. He is survived by his sons, Joel (Karen) Vance of Harwood; Jerel (Sue) Vance of Floodwood, Minn., Calvin "Kelly" (Holly) Vance of Salem, Ore., David (Kim) Vance of Fargo; a daughter, Mary (Dan) Eberhardt of West Fargo; 15 grandchildren; two sisters; Lois (Marlin "Pete") Erickson of McHenry; Twila Combs of Calif.; a sistr-in-law, Marcella Vance of Cooperstown; brother -in-law, Leif Aalgaard of Sacramento, Calif.; aunt, Laura Hausmann of Sacramento, Calif; Uncle, Hubert Myers of Palmento, Fla.; and a special friend, Elnore Crooks of West Fargo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer and Ruth Vance; a brother, Russell Vance and a sister, Helen Aalgaard.
