Description	:	Paul Gnagy was born October 24, 1921, in Winifred, Kansas, the oldest child of Seigel and Minerva (Kappel) Gnagy. After Paul graduated from Cleburne High School (salutatorian), the family moved to Wichita, Kansas, where Paul attended business classes and began working at Boeing as a tool maker. He enlisted in the military in June of 1943 and married Irma Farney, whom he had met at Boeing, on July 18, 1943, shortly before shipping out for basic training. Read More	Paul Gnagy was born October 24, 1921, in Winifred, Kansas, the oldest child of Seigel and Minerva (Kappel) Gnagy. After Paul graduated from Cleburne High School (salutatorian), the family moved to Wichita, Kansas, where Paul attended business classes and began working at Boeing as a tool maker. He enlisted in the military in June of 1943 and married Irma Farney, whom he had met at Boeing, on July 18, 1943, shortly before shipping out for basic training. He had originally been in the Air Force and wanted to be a pilot, but he was too tall for the standards at that time. In 1944 he changed services to the Army and was sent to the Philippines. He was part of the Martial law effort in Hiroshima shortly after the bomb was dropped. Paul and Irma had three children together. They moved from Wichita to Derby, Kansas, in 1953, and Paul served on the Derby school board for ten years while working at Boeing as a tool engineer. He was a professional engineer certified by the state of California. During the early 1970s, Paul worked at McDonnell Douglas in the St. Louis area for 2.5 years, then returned Wichita to work for Cessna aircraft, and then finally for Boeing again. He was a member of Bestor G. Brown lodge and Lions Club. He served as a member of the school board for over ten years. His brother said, "I've never met a single soul who didn't like Paul." He was a man of integrity, honor, and humor; a wonderful husband and father. Paul died on December 20, 1981, and services were held at an overflowing sanctuary at the First Presbyterian church in Derby. He left behind his wife, a sister, two brothers, three children (and their spouses, seven grandchildren and many friends to forever mourn their loss.
