Description	:	Paul W. "Ringo" Myers, 81, of Newton died on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at his home in Newton. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9, at the St. Aidan's Anglican Catholic Church in Des Moines. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Newton Union Cemetery. "Ringo" Myers, 81, of Newton died on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at his home in Newton. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9, at the St. Aidan's Anglican Catholic Church in Des Moines. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Newton Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Paul's name may be left at the church or the funeral home. Paul, the son of George and Unnita (Butcher) Myers, was born on Feb. 2, 1928, in Newton. He was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. Paul was united in marriage with Arlene Hutchinson on May 1, 1948, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Paul was a graduate of Newton Senior High School. He worked in sales at Parsons and then as a truck driver for Thomberts, where he retired from. Paul served his country in the U.S. Navy in World War II aboard the USS Fond du Lac. Through the years Paul and Arlene attended many ship reunions and renewed many friendships. He was a charter member of the St. Aidan's Anglican Catholic Church where he was a lay reader and served on the Vestry. Paul was a 50 year member of the Newton Lodge #59 A.F. & A.M., Past Master of Meridian Lodge #280 in Kellogg, Des Moines Scottish Rite Consistory, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine Clown, Jasper County Shrine Club, Jasper County Jokers, Za-Ga-Zig "Klassy Chassis" and Za-Ga-Zig "Hillbillys". In 2005, he was invested with the Knight Commander Court of Honour (K.C.C.H.) from the Des Moines Valley of the Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the Newton Elks BPOE, American Legion Post 111 and VFW Post 1655. Those left to honor Paul's memory are his wife, Arlene of Newton; daughter, Sandy (Gary) Damman of Altoona; three grandchildren, William (Lisa) Damman of Indianola, Eric (Jennifer) Damman of Ostego, Minn., and Jessica Damman (Jason) of Des Moines; his six great-grandchildren, Olivia, Emma, Rachel, James, Spencer and Kaitlynn; special child, James (Karen) Myers of Louisburg, Kan.; his special grandchildren, Chris Myers of Louisburg, Kan., and Jesse (Kalena) Myers of Overland Park, Kan.; special great-grandchild, Caleb; his sister, June Kingery of Kellogg; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Joe Myers and Max Myers; and three brothers, Delmar Myers, George Myers, Jr., and a brother in infancy.
