Description	:	Paula M. Wehling, 93, of Waverly, Iowa passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly. Paula was born on April 7, 1917, the daughter of Louis and Emma (Richmann) Widdel in Readlyn, Iowa. She was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Readlyn on April 29, 1917 and confirmed also at St. Paul Lutheran Church on March 29, 1931 by Rev. Theo Frese. Read More	Paula M. Wehling, 93, of Waverly, Iowa passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly. Paula was born on April 7, 1917, the daughter of Louis and Emma (Richmann) Widdel in Readlyn, Iowa. She was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Readlyn on April 29, 1917 and confirmed also at St. Paul Lutheran Church on March 29, 1931 by Rev. Theo Frese. Paula attended St. Paul Parochial School, Readlyn High School and studied music at Wartburg College under the late Professor E.G. Heist. She worked 9 years as a bookkeeper at Miller Hatchery before and after her marriage. On September 12, 1940, she was united in marriage to Lorenz Wehling at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Readlyn by Rev. Louis Richmann. The couple made their home in Waverly, until March of 1946, when they moved to a farm 1 ½ miles north of Bremer. The following year they moved to the Emil Roloff farm directly across the road, where they lived for 31 years. The couple retired from farming and moved to Waverly in 1978. Paula then worked as Secretary/Receptionist at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community for 14 years, retiring in 1991. Lorenz died on August 2, 1994, and Paula continued to live in her home until she became a resident of Bartels in January of 2002. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, serving on church council, Building Committee for the Educational wing, and had served for over 50 years as the church organist. Paula also served as a 4-H leader, did volunteer work at St. John Lutheran Church, Red Cross Bloodmobile, Bremwood and Bremer-Butler Hospice. Paula enjoyed all her volunteer work, playing cards and was a great cake decorator, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Survivors are her daughter, Janice Hare of Iowa City, Iowa; son, Paul (Margaret) Wehling of Cedar Falls, Iowa; granddaughter, Amanda Nielsine Wehling of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and by a sister-in-law, Irma Widdel of Waverly, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lorenz; a brother and sister in infancy and by a brother, Rueben Widdel. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 am at St. John Lutheran Church in Waverly with Pastor Matthew Versemann officiating. Burial will follow in the Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Friends may call an hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church, Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community or Cedar Valley Hospice of Waverly.
