Dimmitt died Saturday morning at 5 o'clock after severe suffering with a cancer in her face for over three years, two years of which she was not able to leave her house. Paulina Jones was born in Bush County, Iowa, Nov. 23, 1834, died April 9, 1898. She was married to W.E. Dimmitt March 9, 1856, in Wapello County, Iowa. She united with the Baptist Church twenty yeas ago and has always lived the life she professed. She was the mother of thirteen children, five of whom are still living, and four of them were present at the funeral. The funeral occurred Monday at the East Liberty Church, conducted by the Rev. W.J. Watson of the Baptist Church. (Obituary provided by Debbie Truitt, Ottumwa, Iowa) Note: It is likely the published obituary may be in error regarding the birthplace of Paulina Jones. 1850 U.S. Census records indicate Paulina was born in Rush County, Indiana.
