Ales, 87, of Bellevue, entered heaven on Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at Kingery-Lemke Funeral Home, Bellevue, where friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday. Cremation rights will be accorded with burial at a later date in Miles Cemetery. Ales, 87, of Bellevue, entered heaven on Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue. She was born on Jan. 22, 1921, at her home in Canton, Iowa, daughter of Charles Fredrick and Edna Jane (Downer) Kokemuller. She married William George Davids II on Aug. 21, 1940, in Miles; he preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1954. She later married Lee Victor "Bud" Ales Jr. on June 25, 1955, in Preston; he preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 1972. She was a loving wife, mother and grandma. Pauline and her husband Bill owned and operated Davids Tap in Miles. She also had worked for Operation New View, Maquoketa, AARP, Dubuque and the Bellevue Public Library, retiring at the age of 81. She was a member of the Miles American Legion Auxiliary for 36 years. Most importantly she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching soaps and NASCAR, reading, bird watching and spending time outdoors. She also loved animals, gardening, giving "holy hugs" and keeping up with current events. "She will be sadly missed by all who knew her"\|" Surviving are her children, Robert (Joyce) Davids, of Belle-vue, Kennard (Nancy) Davids, of Dubuque, Mike (Billie) Davids, of Princeton, Sharon Ales, of DePere, Wis., and Cindy (Anthony) Ales, of Dubuque; a brother, Charles Kokemuller, of Conway, Alaska; three sisters, Vivian Meyer, of Big Rock, Virginia Struck, of Atalissa, and Shirley Reading, of Cibole, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Pat Thines, of Preston; and a brother-in-law, Jim (Lois) Ales, of Clitherall, Minn. She also was preceded in death by two sons, William Charles Davids III and James Conrad Davids; a grandson, Andre Patten; two sisters, Mildred Fischer and Viola Kent; and three brothers, Milton, Arnold and Kermit Kokemuller.
