She died Monday, August 15, 2005, at the Manilla Manor in Manilla, Iowa, at the age of ninety-one. Paulina was born in Morgan Township near Schleswig, Iowa. Read More	Paulina Meyer July 14, 1914-August 15, 2005 Paulina Lesetta Sophie Meyer was born July 14, 1914, the daughter of Christoph Johona Herman and Lizzie Johanna Schwartz Gierstorf. She died Monday, August 15, 2005, at the Manilla Manor in Manilla, Iowa, at the age of ninety-one. Paulina was born in Morgan Township near Schleswig, Iowa. She was baptized August 9, 1914 and confirmed April 1, 1928 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hanover Township, Charter Oak by Rev. Runge. She received her education in a rural school near her home. On April 13, 1941, Paulina was united in marriage to John Meyer at St. Paul Lutheran Church. The couple made their home on the Meyer family farm and were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Judy. The couple remained on the farm for nearly ten years, after which they moved to a farm near Ricketts and in 1956, moved into the town of Ricketts. In 1973, Paulina moved to Schleswig where she remained until 1994, at which time she moved to the Eventide Senior Apartments in Denison until 1998, when she moved to the Manilla Manor. She spent much of her life caring for others as she babysat for area families and provided assistance for those who needed help in their homes. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. In her spare time, she also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and needlework. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Ricketts, their Ladies Aid and Lamplighters, and the LWML. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John in 1961; one son-in-law, Larry Thul; three brothers, Reinhard, Wilbert, and Elmer; three sisters-in-law, Ramona Gierstorf, Mona Gierstorf, and Lorraine Gierstorf; one brother-in-law, Herbert Meyer. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Neitzke and her husband, Darrell of Tilden, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Wendi Barnett; Ross Thul and his wife, Kathy; and Tricia Welsh, all of Denison; two step-grandchildren, Bill Neitzke and his wife, Glenda of Hadar, Nebraska; and Sarah Puckett of Meadow Grove, Nebraska; seven great-grandchildren, Justin Barnett, Austin, Taylor, Blake and Alicia Thul, and Kassidy and Tanner Welsh, all of Denison; six step-great-grandchildren, Chris and Philip McIntosh; Jessica, Sasha, Wyatt, and Weston Neitzke; one brother, Delbert Gierstorf of Schleswig; three sisters, Esther Gierstorf of Schleswig; Leona Meyer of Denison; and Irma Bornhoft and her husband, Harold of Schleswig; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Groth and her husband, Chester of Schleswig, and Marjorie Lantz of Charter Oak; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 18, 2005, at the St. Luke Lutheran Church, Ricketts, Iowa. Rev. Eugene Ernst officiated the service and grave side rites held at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Soldier Township, Charter Oak. Shirley Stull provided the organ accompaniment for congregational hymns, "How Great Thou Art" and "What A Friend We Have in Jesus". Those serving as pallbearers were Dennis Gierstorf, Arlen Gierstorf, Justin Barnett, Kent Bornhoft, Marc Meyer and Ross Thul. The family invited everyone in attendance at the service to join them in fellowship and lunch at the church, served by the ladies Aid. The Huebner Funeral Home in Schleswig was in charge of arrangements.
