Read More	Paulus Banker Dead Well known Chapin man goes to Great beyond. Paulus Banker, one of the well-known and pioneer residents of chapin, died at his home just south of that town last Friday night following several weeks illness caused by an attack of appendicitis and other complications. John Paulus Banker was born on December 12, 1849, in Bavaria, Germany and was 70 years of age at the time of his death. He spent the early years of his life in Germany and was there married to miss Catherine Riddle, the couple coming to America in 1869 and locating at Aurora, Illinois. They resided in that territory until 1887, when they moved to Franklin County, locating on a farm east of Chapin where they resided for 12 years and since that time the banker home has been a mile south of Chapin. Mr. and Mrs. Banker were the parent of nine children. The wife and mother died in 1910, and two of the children passed to the unknown land. The children who survive are Henry Banker, of Aurora; Ernest Banker, of Chapin; Fred P Baker, of Hampton; Miss Carrie Baker who resides at home; Mrs. L.C. Stewart, of St Paul, Minnesota; Grover A Banker, of Chapin; Miss Esther Baker who resides at home. he is also survived by two sisters Mrs. Maggie Mushlier and Mrs. Lizzy Weber, of Aurora Illinois and by one brother, Adam Banker of Chapin. Mr. Banker was a rugged sort and was usually in the best of health until during the past year. He always took a deep interest in local and public affairs and was interested in the progress of his home county. He was a kind neighbor and friend, interested in his family and always ready to assist a neighbor and friend in need. His large acquaintance in Chapin and surrounding community made his name familiar in nearly all households and his hearty handshake and cheery smile will be missed by his many friends and acquaintances. Funeral services were held at the Congregational Church in Chapin last Sunday afternoon, conducted by the pastor Rev. F.H. Anderson. A large company of neighbors and friends were present to pay honor to his memory. Interment was made in the Chapin cemetery. . Died Dec 26, 1919 Hampton chronicle January 1st, 1920
