She was born Aug. 16, 1922, at Fredonia, the daughter of William R. and Mary O. Knott DeWitt. On Nov. 30, 1940 at Washington, she married Walter J, Hoover who died Jan. 10, 1979. She was born Aug. 16, 1922, at Fredonia, the daughter of William R. and Mary O. Knott DeWitt. On Nov. 30, 1940 at Washington, she married Walter J, Hoover who died Jan. 10, 1979. Mrs. Hoover had worked for many businesses in Mt Pleasant, including John Green’s, the 34 Grill, Anderson’s Café, KXGI Radio, Seifert’s, Kennedy’s Dairy and the Johnson Publishing Co. working on the city directory for several years. Most recently, she managed the Ashley’s store. She was a member of the St Alphonsus Church, its Altar and Rosary Society, South Center Club, Women of the Moose and Royal Neighbors. She also was active with the Community Action Program of Mt. Pleasant. Surviving are two son; three daughters; one foster daughter; 11 grandchildren; one brother Leonard A. DeWitt, Baker, Ore.; and two sisters, Mrs. H.R. (Nellie) Hoops, West Plains, Mo., and Mrs. Irvin (Helen) Anderson, Osage, Minn. Her parents, three brothers, Laurence, Paul and Harold, and one grandson, Christopher, also preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at the St Alphonsus Church, Mt Pleasant. Father Thomas Spiegel will officiate with interment in the St Alphonsus Cemetery. Friends may call as they desire after noon Thursday at the Weir Funeral Home where the parish will recite the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. The family will receive friends following the Rosary. A memorial has been established for the Henry County Health Center Ambulance Service for advanced cardiac life support equipment. **from member Ben Bower
