Born in Hollis, Kansas, to Albert and Sarah (Sewart) Abbott, the oldest of three boys. By 1910 the family was living and farming north of Salina, Kansas, in Saline County. In 1918 there is an incident in Concordia where he was jailed for 30 days for carrying a canceled loaded gun in the railyard. Born in Hollis, Kansas, to Albert and Sarah (Sewart) Abbott, the oldest of three boys. By 1910 the family was living and farming north of Salina, Kansas, in Saline County. In 1918 there is an incident in Concordia where he was jailed for 30 days for carrying a canceled loaded gun in the railyard. And in 1920 in probate court in Salina County Pearl was adjudged to be feeble-minded and guardianship given to his brother, Leaceile. His parents separated or divorced, but in the 1925 Kansas Census he is living with his mother in Lawrence Township, Cloud County, Kansas. Unfortunately a tragic accident occurred in April of 1929, as recorded in the newspapers of the area. Clement Abbott was killed today when struck by two cars while he walked across U.S. Highway 81 north of Salina. Mr. Abbott started to cross the road in front of a car driven by J.F Astle of Haven traveling south and was thrown directly into the path of a second car drive by Fred Warnow of Salina. He suffered a broken leg and crushed skull and died instantly.
