Parker and Anna Murrell Parker on May 23, 1916, at York. She passed away on Aug. 26, 2000, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 84 years, 3 months, and 3 days. She was one of three children in the family. She was raised in Fairmont, and graduated from the Fairmont High School in 1934. On Feb 5, 1938, she was united in marriage to Lester L. Fleharty of Oakdale, and to them five children were born. Lester and Pearl located in Belleville, Kan. until 1943, when they moved to York. They lived in York until 1945, when they moved to Fairmont, where she resided for the rest of her life. She worked at Mumby's, the Tower Café and the Fairmont School and Senior Center. For twenty years Pearl reported the Fairmont News on York Radio. She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and also a member of the Fairview Manor Auxiliary. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, Milford and Anna; by her husband, Les; sister Muriel Graner; brother, Harold Parker; and grandson, Kirby Fleharty. She is survived by daughter, Judy Eifert; son Terry and wife Mary; daughter, Bonnie Wettstead and husband Bob; daughter Peggy Maulsby and husband Ron; son Larry Fleharty and wife Debra; 17 grandchildren and six great-grand children. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 29, 200 from the Fairmont Community Church with Rev. Betsy Galloway-Carew officiating. Nancy Jo Galusha accompanied Natalie Roper, who sang "How Great Thou Art" and "One Day at a Time." Casket bearers were Greg Eifert, Mike, Eifert, Jay Fleharty, Shane Fleharty, Brian Wettstead and Barry Wettstead. Honorary bearers were Pearl's 11 remaining grandchildren. Interment was in the Fairmont Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal August 30th, 2000 page 18.
