Description	:	Pearl Mary Schroer was born August 21, 1917, to George and Mary (Hofstetter) Wombacher at Lawrene, Nebraska. She passed from this life into Eternal Life to be with our Lord and Savior on May 6, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 98 years, 8 months and 15 days. Read More	Pearl Mary Schroer was born August 21, 1917, to George and Mary (Hofstetter) Wombacher at Lawrene, Nebraska. She passed from this life into Eternal Life to be with our Lord and Savior on May 6, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 98 years, 8 months and 15 days. She was raised on a farm (her Mother's parental home) 3 3.4 miles east of Lawrence as the third oldest of eight children. Due to her Mother's health issues, Pearl assumed much of the household responsibility and developed a strong work ethic at a young age. She attended a nearby country school, District 57 Gem School through the eighth grade and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1935. After graduation, she moved to Iowa City, IA where she lived with relatives and worked at the University Hospital until she returned home and married Arnold J. Schroer on May 6, 1941, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lawrence. They made their home on farms near Nelson and south of Lawrence until retiring in 1981. Pearl led a faith filled life and made worshipping the Lord a priority; she was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society. She will be remembered for her hospitable spirit always graciously welcoming visiting relatives and guests to her home. She was an avid gardener as well as an excellent seamstress. Pearl created countless quilts that she gifted to others, and also enjoyed being an active member of the Sacred Heart Quilting Circle. She was a "treasured Pearl" to all who knew her, dedicated to her family and selfless service to others. Her kind gentle spirit, subtle wisdom and warm encouragement as a wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend will be greatly missed. Pearl is survived by sons Larry & wife Deborah Schroer, Bennington, Elroy & wife Jean Schroer, Omaha; daughters JeanAnn & husband Ken Himmelberg, Nelson, Bonnie & husband Donald Roeder, Plymouth, MN; sisters Arlene & husband Paul Thomassen, Yuba City, Ca, Leona & husband Tom Detwiler, Chadron; 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchldren. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arnold; son Bernard Schroer; great granddaughter Reece Himmelberg; brother and sister-in-laws Wilbur (Pernia) Wombacher, Ray (Viola) Wombacher, Delbert (Mary Lynn) Wombacher, Omer (Millier) Wombacher; sister and brother-in-law Norma (Nick) Murphy. Rosary was held Monday, May 9, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lawrence. Pastor, Father Thomas Bush, offered the Mass of Christian Burial for Pearl. He was assisted with the services by Lector: Craig Buescher; Acolyte: Allen Ostdiek: Altar Servers: Kyle Hubl and Matt Kimminau: Organist: Linda Ostdiek: Song Leader: Carolyn Kohmetscher: Violinist: Alex Zimmerman. Mrs. Schroer's granddaughters carried the offertory gifts and flowers to the Altar. Pallbearers were Ryan Schroer, Addison McCartney, Eric Himmelberg, Ray Ostdiek, Frank Roeder, Barry Wombacher. Honorary Pallbearers were Kevin Himmelberg, Amy Sample, Laura Parillo, Andrew Schroer, Sheila McCartney, Elizabeth Zimmerman, Wendi Retzlaff, Kelli McCumber, Sarah Amelotte, Pearl Ann Schroer. Burial was in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Lawrence, Nebraska. Merten-Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements.
