Description	:	Peggy Gouge, age 79, of the Blue Rock Community, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 19th, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Desta Hughes. She was also preceded in death by three sisters: Jo Ann Tipton, Gladys Robinson and Freida Ray; two brothers: Carson Hughes and Richard "Bud" Hughes. Read More	Peggy Gouge, age 79, of the Blue Rock Community, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 19th, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Desta Hughes. She was also preceded in death by three sisters: Jo Ann Tipton, Gladys Robinson and Freida Ray; two brothers: Carson Hughes and Richard "Bud" Hughes. She attended Grace Baptist Church and loved to read, work crossword puzzles but mostly loved her family and church family. Surviving is her loving husband of 55 years, Rev. Ronnie Gouge; daughters: Rhonda Murphy and husband, Tommy, of Crabtree, Tammy Willis of Jacks Creek and Shelly Nanny and husband, Larry, of Estatoe; sons: Travis Hughes of Mooresville and Frankie Gouge and wife, Becky, of Butler, TN; sister, Quida McMahan of Bowditch; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 22nd in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Matt Wilson will officiate. Burial will be follow in the Blue Rock Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to Blue Ridge Hospice and Palliative Care at 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
