He was born June 18, 1928 at Ehrhardt, a son of Bradley Carroll Hiers and Agnes Peters Hiers. Mr. Hiers was a retired farmer and was employed at Herndon Stockyard for over 40 years and also worked at the Walterboro Stockyard for eight years. He was a lifelong member of St. Johns Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board and was Sunday School Secretary for many years. He was born June 18, 1928 at Ehrhardt, a son of Bradley Carroll Hiers and Agnes Peters Hiers. Mr. Hiers was a retired farmer and was employed at Herndon Stockyard for over 40 years and also worked at the Walterboro Stockyard for eight years. Survivors include his wife of almost 50 years (October 26, 1957), Dorothy Richardson Hiers; two sons, Michael Hiers of Barnwell (Gracie) and David Hiers of Ehrhardt (Zina); two daughters, Jane Hiers Schaffer of Varnville (Johnnie) and Kathryn Hiers Hargett of Summerville (Alan); grandsons, Thomas Hiers, Sam Hargett and Chandler Hiers; granddaughters, Gracie Hiers, Jenny Schaffer and Rennie Hargett; step-grandchildren, Tori Snyder, Scarlett Kinard, Katrina Arbogast (Chuck) and Ashley Hindman; step-great grandchildren, Taylor Lyons, Catherine and Caroline Arbogast; three brothers, James Everette Hiers, Alyea Hiers and Franklin Hiers all of Ehrhardt; four sisters, Florine Fogle of Brunswick, GA, Mary Louise Parnell of Charleston, Angelia Breland of Ehrhardt and Beverly Fisk of Lodge. Memorials may be made to St. Johns Baptist Church, 2509 St. Johns Church Road, Ehrhardt, SC 29081.
