He was born June 23, 1919 in Fansler, Iowa to Arthur and Edna (Mallon) Buttler. He grew up in Guthrie Center and graduated from Guthrie Center High School in 1937. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1941 to 1945 on a PT boat as a machinist. After his discharge from the service, he went to work at Buttler Construction in Guthrie Center. He was born June 23, 1919 in Fansler, Iowa to Arthur and Edna (Mallon) Buttler. He grew up in Guthrie Center and graduated from Guthrie Center High School in 1937. He married Margaret Davies August 22, 1952 in Boone. They made their home in Guthrie Center and he retired from Buttler Construction in 1990. Perl enjoyed traveling, yard work, crossword puzzles, watching professional football and helping his family. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and American Legion Post #124 in Guthrie Center. Perl is survived by his wife Margaret; son Jon Buttler of Grayslake, IL; daughters Peggy (Arnie) Myers of Guthrie Center and Linda Buttler of Bishop, CA; grandchildren Bridget (John) Meacham, Brooke (Rich) Boals, Alyssa Buttler; step-grandson Neil Myers; great-grandchildren Zachery and Morgan Meacham; and brother Wayne (Marie) Buttler of Guthrie Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth, four infant sons and a grandson, Mark Tallman. Funeral services were December 13, 2006 at First United Methodist Church, Guthrie Center. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Guthrie Center.
