Permelia married Charles Maxson Sr. in about 1820, possibly in Jefferson County, New York where they raised their family. The couple lived in the village of Orleans for several years before moving to Upper Saginaw County (now Bay County), Michigan in 1847 where they settled in Hampton Township.
