The records from the land office appear to be an attempt to clear title. Peter returned to Ohio. After the mother of his son Ephraim, Mary A. (surname unknown) died, Peter Jr. married Hanna Davis, born 1820 in Ohio. Peter Jr. and Hanna are the only occupants of their home in 1860 Census, Lick Twp. Jackson, Ohio. [Service in War of 1812] Pvt. from Aug 1 to Sep 4 1813, Capt. John Roadamour's Co. of Ohio Mounted Militia, Major Womeldorf's Reg't Volunteers. Detached to Capt. Newsom 10 Aug.1813. Capt. Nathan Newsom's Co. Ohio Mounted Volunteers Major Daniel Womeldorf's Regiment, was formed out of Roadamour's Company 10 Aug 1813. Pvt. Peter Aleshire received a total of $23.83 for 26 days service @ $8 per month plus one horse for hire at 40 cents per day plus forage and rations 26 days @ 25 cents per day. [Roll of Capt. Graves and Musician Jonah Powell. === TJSusag Note: The historical record that Peter Sr. Aleshire was a Regular Baptist minister who served the church in Rutland, Meigs County, Ohio left me wondering about the date and place of his ordination. That Peter Jr. believed he was born in Kentucky may be a clue. If true, it seems Peter Sr. Aleshire, after the birth of son Ephraim, 28 Jan 1863, Shenandoah County, Virginia, and the birth of his daughter Sarah 1 Oct 1798, Shenandoah County, VA, Peter Sr.Aleshire and family may have lived somewhere in the mountains of Southeastern Kentucky. During that time he was ordained a Regular Baptist minister. Peter Jr. Aleshire was born 12 Oct 1795. (no births between that date and 1798). --- The Regular Baptists originated in the coal mining hamlets located in the mountains of Southeastern Kentucky. They are noted for their lined-note singing style. In Wayland's history of Baptists he explains that English immigrants had been influenced by General and Particular Baptists in England. In America they organized General Baptist churches (called Free Baptists) and Regular Baptist churches from the old Particular Baptists in England. The Regular Baptists were more strict than the Free Baptists. The Philadelphia Baptist Association, formed in 1707, developed a "Confession of Faith" in 1742.
