Peter Sr. Aleshire served as Pastor of First Regular Baptist Church, Rutland, Meigs County, Ohio which was organized in 1817. He also served as Justice of Peace in Gallia County, Ohio and performed many marriages. Peter Ailshite/Aleshire married Margaret Koontz 23 Aug 1789, in Shenandoah County, Virginia. Wife: Martha Ann (maiden name unknown), married before 1859. === MOVED TO MEIGS COUNTY, OHIO: About 1802, Peter and his brother Michael moved to the Northwest Territory which was formally created in 1787. Congress wanted to speed up sale of Ohio land. Source: "Pioneer History of Meigs County", Larkin, Stillman, Caster. The Berlin Printing Company, Columbus, Ohio 1908: "The Aleshire brothers, Michael and Peter, came as emigrants from the Shenandoah Valley, VA to Ohio in 1802, and settled first near the mouth of Kiger Creek until 1805, when Michael came to Leading Creek and bought a farm. He afterwards moved to Salem where he died in 1845. "Conrad Aleshire came to Leading Creek, settled on a farm, had a son Abram, who came with him from VA., who was born in 1794 and had two children, Anna and Preston Aleshire. Conrad Aleshire died 1842, aged eighty nine years. Abram Aleshire died in 1865. Peter Aleshire was a Regular Baptist preacher and lived in Salem Township." === After death of Margaret, Peter married about 1827, Martha "Patsy"Russell. They had two children: Louisiana Aleshire, b. 21 Jul 1828. Indiana Aleshire, b. 23 Jun 1830. Louisiana married Robert L. Schurlock, 12 Sep 1850, Jackson County, Ohio. === Rev. Peter Aleshire's Last Will and Testament was proved in Jackson County, Ohio 8 Mar 1847. Bondsman was George Koontz, brother of Peter's first wife, Margaret. "In the name of God amen! I, Peter Aleshire considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory, blessed be Almighty God for the same, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following. 1st. That all my debts as shall by me be owing at my death, together with my funeral expenses and all charges touching the proving of or otherwise concerning this my Will, shall be in the first place out of my personal estate and effects be fully paid and satisfied. I give and bequeath unto my belovedvwife Martha or Patsy Aleshire the farm that we now live on, it being the South west quarter of the northwest quarter, of section No. 12, township No. 8, range No. 17, containing forty acres together with all my personal property after my debts are paid, to occupy, possess and enjoy the same during her life and at her death I will that is left by my beloved wife to my two youngest daughters, Louisiana Aleshire and Indiana Aleshire at their mother's death to be equally divided and each to have an equal share of the land and of the personal property that is left by their mother, and in case of the death of either of them the other is to have the whole of the above named land and property if she died leaving no heir, and I do make and ordain John Holcomb, together with my beloved wife Patsy Aleshire sole executor and executrix of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
