Read More	From the St. Paul Republican, November 3, 1904, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Peter Debord – After an illness of less than twelve hours resulting from a stroke of paralysis, Peter Debord breathed his last at his home in the northeast part of town Thursday evening, October 27, at 8 o’clock. Mr. Debord had enjoyed his usual good health upon arising that morning, but was stricken shortly afterward while working in his barn. He sank rapidly from the first and died before any of his children, except those living closest at hand, could be summoned to his bedside. Mr. Debord was born in Harlan county, Kentucky, January 17, 1839, being 65 years, 9 months and 10 days of age when he died. He was married October 22, 1863 to Mrs. Mary E. Caudle and removed in 1866 to Illinois, where he settled on a farm. He brought his family to Nebraska in 1882 and took a homestead in Greeley county, eight miles northeast of the present site of Wolbach. He moved to St. Paul in 1899, where he resided until death claimed him. A widow and eight children survive him. The children are: Mrs. Sarah E. Kinney, Mrs. Jane Haggadorn and John and George Debord of Wolbach, James Debord of Lusk, Wyo., Mrs. Martha F. Hiett of Willow Lake, S. D. and Lee Debord and Miss Rebecca Debord of St. Paul. Besides these is Mrs. Lee Chalfant of Gage Valley, a step-daughter. All but Mrs. Hiett were present at the funeral, which was held from the family residence Sunday afternoon at 1 o’clock by Dr. George A. Ray. The general esteem in which Mr. Debord was held by all who knew him was attested by the presence of several former neighbors from Greeley county at his funeral. He was a kind husband and father, a good citizen and an honest man.
