Description	:	Services were held Friday, Feb. 27 at Lennox Ebenezer Presbyterian Church for Pete Javers who died unexpectedly at his rural Lennox home on Feb. 24, 2009 due to an apparent heart attack. He was one week from celebrating his 90th birthday. Officiating during the service was the Rev. Wayne Reed. Helen Sweeter was organist. Alan and Gloria Rops sang "Beyond The Sunset" and "Rock of Ages". Honorary pallbearers included all of Pete's grandchildren. Javers was born Mar. 1, 1919 near Lennox, SD, the son of Enno and Tressa (Hyronimus) Javers. He attended Bedford rural school. On June 25, 1942 he married Tena H. Albers at the Ebenezer Parsonage in Lennox by A. E. Drake, pastor. He had worked for John Morrell in Sioux Falls and for Sioux Falls Construction for 20 years. He then farmed and milked cows until retirement. Pete was a loving and caring husband and father. This was exemplified by his devoted care to Tena throughout her life, but especially the five years prior to her death on July 6, 2008. Her death ended a marriage union of over 66 years. Pete was a member of Lennox Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. Besides his parents and wife, Pete was preceded in death by three brothers: Albert, George and Enno and three sisters: Clara Otten, Tillie Groenveld and Tena Poppens. Grateful for having shared his life are his four sons: Jimmy (Mitzi) Javers, Gilbert, SC, Gene (Pat) Javers, Bobby (JoAnn) Javers and Lynn (Elaine) Javers all of Lennox; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, two brother-in-laws: George (Albertha) Albers, Tea and Albert (Melva) Albers, Sioux Falls; a sister-in-law: Florence Javers of Sioux Falls; and a host of other relatives and friends.
