Description	:	Peter George Nelson ( 70 yrs. 11 months, 13 days) was the 7th and last child of 9 children (Anders, Nils, Hanna, Nils, Ingri, Elna, Marie, Maria, Peter) born to Nils Larsson (1835-1916) and Eljena Nilsdotter Nilsson (1832-1910) from Vollsjö, Sweden. His paternal grandparents were Boel Larsdotter and Lars Knutsson. His maternal grandparents were Nils Åkesson and Ingar Åkasdotter. Peter was born in Vollsjö, Sweden and attended school there until his father, Nils Larsson, brother, Nils Nilsson and family emigrated (March 23, 1891) to the United States. They settled near Big Stone County, near Ortonville, MN and began farming. Peter was 13 at the time. On Oct. 29, 1898 in Ortonville, MN Peter (20 yrs old) married his childhood friend of the family, Emma Teresa Carlson (19 yrs old). Emma was the daughter of Nils Carlsson and Bengta Mårtensdotter. Both families emigrated from Sweden to Big Stone County, Minnesota around the same time. After their marriage, Peter and Emma lived and farmed in Big Stone County for 8 years. Peter became a US Citizen in May 8, 1905 in Ortonville, MN. Then in Feb. 1906 Peter went to North Dakota and purchased land in Kandyiohi Township, Burke County. He then moved his family to a farm he purchased in 1906. The family stayed with Peter's sister Elna and her husband Christian Schmelling until Ap. 1906 (2 months) until they built and were able to move into their own home and started farming. They remained on the farm until their deaths. Peter died of a heart attack while driving home from Kenmare, ND to his farm. They had six children: 1. Aden Ernest Nelson 1899-1979 2. Roger Greaves Nelson Sept. 30, 1916-May 31, 1983 Peter's hobbies included photography, collecting donations for the Red Cross, giving to the Niobe Baptist church, socializing with the town folks in Kenmare.
