Description	:	Peter Godderz, one of the oldest settlers of Osage County, died at his home north of the Dragoon, on Tuesday, aged 80 years, 6 months, lacking a few days. Mr. Godderz was born in Germany and emigrated to America fifty years ago. Thirty-one years ago he came to Osage County and settled on the farm upon which he lived until his death. Osage City, KS Free Press--September 29, 1904 p.4 ~~~ The Burlingame Enterprise 06 Oct 1904 Peter Godderz brief mention of whose death appeared in last week's paper, was born in Germany, March 31, 1824. He was married to Miss Margaret Gudman and came to Moline, Rock Island county, Illinois, in 1854. They lived on a farm there until 1872 when they came to Kansas and settled on a farm in Dragoon township where Mr. Godderz died September 27. He leaves a wife and six children, two sons and four daughters, to mourn his death - Otto Godderz, Leo Godderz, Mrs. E. Reiser, Mrs. C. Christianson, Mrs. Geo. Dorr and Mrs. H. Odendahl of Illinois. The funeral was held from the house on Thursday, the 29th, Rev. Schaible, of the Presbyterian church officiating, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Burlingame cemetery. Mr. Godderz was a good man, highly respected by all who knew him, and the tender sympathy of many friends in this community goes out to the aged wife and children who mourn for him.
