Following the marriage, Peter and Helen went to Bazine, Kansas, and lived there until 1908. Three children were born during this time, but the second child, Harold, died after one day. It was a double wedding ceremony, also marrying was Helen's sister Katherine. Following the marriage, Peter and Helen went to Bazine, Kansas, and lived there until 1908. Three children were born during this time, but the second child, Harold, died after one day. They then went to Barron Co., Wisconsin, where two more children were born. Peter left the family to homestead in Montana on a dry-land farm about 30 miles north of Havre. Helen returned to Beaver Dam until Peter sent for her and she and the four children traveled to Montana. Their first years were hard as this was the years of the big drought in that part of the state. The children would catch small jack rabbits and young ducks in order to have meat. Travel was mostly by lumber wagon. Two more children were born in Hill Co. but both died. They were buried in the cemetery, but according to the family accounts, the records where they are buried are lost. Children: Clarence, Harold, Benjamin, Evelyn, Ruby Mae, Dorothy and Louis.
