Former Justice of Peace Recognized for Local History Work Havre--Longtime resident and former Justice of the Peace, Evelyn Elizabeth (Mrs. Edward J.) Donohue, 79, died this morning in a local nursing home. Mrs. Donohue was born Nov. 28, 1909, in Rice Lake, Barron county, Wis., to Mr. and Mrs. Peter J. Raskopf. The family came to homestead north of Havre in 1914. She attended Havre schools graduating as salutatorian of the Class of 1927. She was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church and had formerly been a member of the parish council. Mrs. Donohue worked as a legal secretary for attorneys Jess Angstman, C.D. Stranahan, and Gary Gilbert. She was elected a justice and began her service to the county in January 1979. As a resident of Havre, she had an interest in her community and its history and was very much involved in the 1976 Becentennial project book, "Grit, Guts and Gusto." Because she remembered birthdays and anniversaries of many friends and neighbors and kept in contact with many former classmates, she was often called upon for information concerning the location of former residents. Mrs. Donohue is remembered as a hospitable women, said her son, Edward. She often took bread, rolls, doughnuts, and other baked good to friends and neighbors. She was a local sports fan and used to enjoy horseback riding with Mrs. (Bert) Eva Adams, Donohue added. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Benjamin and Clarence. Survivors include her husband of Harlem; children, Mrs. F.A. (Helen J.) Randlett of Creswell, N.C.; Edward L. Donohue, Great Falls; and Mary Ann Roylance of Downey, Calif.; and a sister, Mrs. Bert (Ruby) Anderson of Havre.
