Description	:	P.L. SCHOEP PASSED AWAY Peter L. Schoep, one of Sioux Center's first businessmen, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clay Butler, in LeMars Monday. He had been ailing al summer but it was not until about ten days before his death that he was forced to bed. He was seventy-four years old. Schoep, one of Sioux Center's first businessmen, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clay Butler, in LeMars Monday. He had been ailing al summer but it was not until about ten days before his death that he was forced to bed. He was seventy-four years old. Mr. Schoep was born in the Netherlands and came to America 54 years ago, moving to Sioux County almost immediately. He was one of our first merchants and until three years ago when he moved to his daughter in Glendale, Calif., he had been a dry good merchant, implement dealer, real estate agent, clothing dealer at various times here. He was vitally interested in this community while he lived here and during the few years he lived in California. Mr. Schoep took an active part in community affairs and was firm in his beliefs and worked them as concerns improving the city. Surviving him are four daughters, Mrs. A. Vander Wilt of Glendale, Calif., Mrs, John Gotz of Pasedena, Calif., Mrs. Clay Butler of LeMars and Miss Harriet Schoep of Glendale; and two sons Gerrit Schoep of Primghar, and Andrew Schoep of of Milwaukee. Mrs. Schoep died here a few years ago. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon 1:30 at the home of B. Rozeboom, and 2:00 at the Central Ref. Church, Rev. Keuning, officiating.
