Description	:	THE MCBBIDE FAMILY by Robert Daniel McBride 1922 Peter McBride was born Oct. 12,1826, at Lamlash, Isle of Arran, Scotland. At the age of sixteen he became a sailor, and crossed the Atlantic seven times; sailed several seasons between England and Ireland; nine months as a "pilot" on a blockade runner during the Portuguese rebellion; once up the Mediterranean to Alexandria Egypt; nineteen years on the Great Lakes; besides other shorter trips to other parts of the world. On Jan. 31, 1853, near Sarnia Ont. Can. He was married to Miss Hannah Westbrook. The summer of 1853 they spent at Sandusky Ohio, and that fall moved to Washington Island, Door Co., Wis. where he engaged in the business of fishing for eighteen years. In the fall of 1871 he took his family to Menasha Wis., where they lived for six years. In the spring of 1877 he started for the Black Hills in Dakota, in the Gold Rush at that time but on arriving at the home of his brother-in-law, Ira Westbrook, in Hamilton Co. Nebr. he decided not to go to Dakota; so came to Buffalo Co. where he took a homestead on Ft. Farm Island. He died at his home there June 22,1910. His wife died at the same place Sept. 4,1915. Their children were,-(1)Lucinda, (2)Thomas, (3)Joel, (4)John, (5)Mary, (6)Patience, (7)Ira, (8)Peter, (9) Hannah, (10) Daniel, (11)William D. All but the last two were born on Washington Island. Mary Died in Menasha March 20, 1875 Patience on Washington Island February 28, 1864 Ira in Los Angeles July 02, 1946 Hannah on Washington Island April 06, 1875 Daniel in Menasha March 26, 1875
