Five years later he pre-empted another quarter section of land and then purchased forty acres making three hundred and sixty acres in all, eighty acres of this land he gave to his daughter in 1875. He also owns a half section of land in Box Butte County, Nebraska. At first our subject lived in a dug-out, but after three years erected a frame building, which was finally burned, and then erected another, twelve by fourteen feet, which served as parlor, bedroom and post-office for eight years. His present brick residence as erected in 1882. Mr. Saspaier was born near Falun, Sweden, May 15, 1828, the foster son of Peter and Brieta Saspaier. He attended the public schools of his native country until sixteen years of age. He came to America in June, 1862 and immediately went to Chicago, and from there to Detroit, but soon returned to Chicago and remained until he came to Dodge County. He was married December, 1849, to Mary Anderson, by whom nine children were born. Politically, our subject is identified with the Independent party, and stands high in the community in which he resides. Peter Saispair died when his horse and buggy plunged into the Elkhorn river on the night of October, 22, 1894. He was born in Dalarna, Sweden on May 15, 1828. He went to Scotland in 1860 and then to Chicago in 1862. He came to Dodge County, Nebraska in 1864. Peter Saispair (15545496) Suggested edit: Please add the following to Peter's bio. Only one of Peter's children is linked to him in findagrave as of January 2019 even though the bio included with his memorial indicate he and Mary had 9 children. He and Mary had been married for about 13 years when they came to America so most of the children would likely have been born in Sweden. Whether they died young is unknown but it would be illogical for the parents to leave children under 13 behind in Sweden. Peter and Mary had a daughter, Mary, who was born in Sweden and married Hans Larson in Chicago but, as of 2019 I have been unable to locate in findagrave. Hans and Mary Larson had at least one daughter, Carrie, who married Andrew Wedergren. Carrie's memorial is 13535808. The 1885 Nebraska census report indicates that Carrie, Peter and Mary Saispair's granddaughter age 10, was born in Illinois and was living with the Saispairs at the time of the census.
