December 5, 1836, he was united in marriage with Jane, daughter of Jesse and Sarah Mixon.... They were the parents of 11 children, vis.: Christian M., born 14 Sep 1837; Perlena and Elsina (twins), 12 Sep 1839; Christianna, 22 May 1842; Sarah, 8 Feb 1844; Lydia, 28 Feb 1846; Ruth, 3 Aug 1848; Jesse M., 8 Apr 1850; Charles, 4 Aug 1852; Peter M., 25 Sep 1854; Mark, 3 Jun 1858. Perlina died 25 Jan 1855; Ruth died 21 Jan 1849. Mr. and Mrs. Smith, with four children are members of the German Baptist Church, and one daughter a member of the Baptist Church."
