Description	:	Peter Swanson was born April 14, 1859, at Helsingburg, Sweden, and died at his home in Loretto, Nebraska, January 20, 1940, at the age of 80 years, nine months and six days. Mr. Swanson came to America as a young man, locating at Nebraska City, Nebraska, where he lived for a number of years. March 15, 1883, he was united in marriage to Miss Hannah Bengston of Nebraska City. To this union were born six children, two of whom died in infancy. Read More	Peter Swanson was born April 14, 1859, at Helsingburg, Sweden, and died at his home in Loretto, Nebraska, January 20, 1940, at the age of 80 years, nine months and six days. Mr. Swanson came to America as a young man, locating at Nebraska City, Nebraska, where he lived for a number of years. March 15, 1883, he was united in marriage to Miss Hannah Bengston of Nebraska City. To this union were born six children, two of whom died in infancy. A daughter, Mrs. Anna Hendrickson of Omaha, passed away July 10, 1923, and a son Carl, of Loretto, died March 21, 1938. His devoted wife passed away on February 11, 1936. Surviving are two sons, Arthur, of Lexington, and Dewey, of Brady, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends who mourn his passing. Mr. and Mrs. Swanson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary March 15, 1933. In the spring of 1908 Mr. Swanson moved to a farm four miles west of Loretto. This same year he and his wife united with the Loretto Methodist church by certificate from the West Hill church. In 1915 he moved to Loretto which has been his home until the time of his death. He was a willing, sincere Christian in the truest sense of the word, and generous to the church, a loving husband and father, and an exceptionally good neighbor. Funeral services were held Monday at two o’clock at the Loretto Methodist church, conducted by Rev. Sam McKeown, assisted by Rev. L. N. Blough of Tecumseh. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery at Albion beside his beloved wife. (Albion Weekly News – Albion, Nebraska – January 25, 1940)
