Wiese read the following obituary: Peter Wilhelm, one of eleven children, was born on November 6, 1882, in Hanover township of Jurgen Petersen and Adaline nee Lorenzen. He was baptized by Pastor Bretcher and confirmed by Pastor Runge at St. Paul's Lutheran church, Hanover township. He was married to Hulda Brockman on August 18, 1902, at Trinity Lutheran church by Pastor Von Der Au. This union was blessed with five children. Peter Petersen lived all of his life in this community. His great interests were farming and cattle breeding. He also took part in community affairs, at one time being President of the Farmers Lumber, Schleswig, Director of Farmers Mutual Insurance, Schleswig, and a director of the Federal Land Bank, Denison. He held office of elder in Immanuel Lutheran church, Schleswig, for a number of years and was a member of this congregation over 40 years. Peter had been in ill health for the past three years and died at Crawford County Memorial Hospital on Monday June 17th. He is survived by his widow, Hulda, four children: Jurgen and C. Henry of Denison, Emil of Schleswig, and Elsie, wife of Fred Carstensen of Ida Grove. Three brothers: Chris and August of Denison, Emil of Westside; two sisters, Marie, wife of John Klinker of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Mrs. Mollie Knudsen of Denison and six grandchildren. He attained to 80 years, seven months, and eleven days. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Elaine; one son, Bernhard; four brothers and one sister. Pallbearers were: Herman Wellendorf, Raymond Fredrichsen, Robert Christiansen, Lorenz Petersen, John J. Petersen, and August F. Petersen. Burial was in the Morgan Cemetery.
