Dakota Freie Presse, 29 July 1919, Number 2357 Jakob Winckler was born October 10, 1831 at Worms, South Russia. He first married Katharina Weikum. They had four children. His second marriage was to Katharina Heupel. They had twelve children. He died at Tyndall, South Dakota on July 14, 1919 and was buried at Wittmeier Cemetery on July 16th. He was survived by his second wife and three sons, George, Jakob and Peter and four daughters. Wittmeier Cemetery-The isolated Wittmeier Cemetery lay untended for many years after the apparent last burial in 1919. A warranty deed dated February 16, 1894, records that Friedrich and Eva Winckler, his wife, conveyed to the Congregational German Emanuel Gemeinde of Upper Emanuel Creek a three acre parcel of land to be used for church and burial ground. The Winckler names there are: Winckler, Arthur (9 months) died March 22, 1913 pneumonia, son of Jacob and Katharina Winckler, Arthur (7 months) died February 5, 1914. Winckler, Carl (76) single, April 5, 1826 - March 8, 1903. Winckler, Jacob, Sr. (87) October 10, 1831-14 Jul 1919; Katharina Heibel (72) February 15, 1847-Januray 2, 1919; Joe Jacob, stillborn, April 25, 1915. Winckler, Jacob (7 months) died 1907; Jacob, infant; Katharina (one month) died May 26, 1906. Winckler, Louisa Clara (15) May 10, 1903-October 15, 1918, heart failure.
