Her husband preceded her to the spirit land about ten years ago. Deceased leaves eight children, four sons and four daughters, to mourn the loss of a loving mother, all of whom were at her bedside during her last moments. They are as follows: W. J. Eiting of Kankanna, Wis., Mrs. Nick Miller of David City, Miss Hattie Eiting of Falls City, Mrs. Joseph Brochtrup, Henry, Barney, Frank and Miss Denie Eiting all of Center, the latter two having remained at home to take care of their aged mother. The funeral took place Wednesday morning at 9:30 o'clock at Solemn high Mass in St. Francis church at Alverno. The Eitings are highly respected people and pioneer settlers of Butler county having resided here about twenty three years. The heartfelt sympathy of the entire community goes out to the children in the loss of their kind and affectionate mother. _______________________ Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), July 17, 1901, p. 5, col. 3 Obituary Died - Mrs. Bernard Eiting June 30th at 11:20 p. m. of old age. Mrs. Eiting was born at St. Antoniers Holland, June 10th, 1832, emigrated to America with her parents in the year 1848, settled in Holland Town Wisconsin. She was married to Bernard Eiting April 1st, 1850, and continued to reside in Holland Town until 1878, in which year they moved to Center township Butler county, where both spent their closing years on earth. Their marriage was blessed with 14 children, 7 sons and 7 daughters, 8 of whom are now living and were at her bedside and accompanied her remains to her last resting place. The funeral ceremonies were held Wednesday at 10 o'clock, at St. Francis church at Alverno. A solemn Requiem Mass was offered, Rev. Father Bex of Falls City, Nebraska being celebrant assisted by Rev. Father Roch of David City as deacon, Rev. Father Hoffman of Bellwood assistant Subdeacon and the pastor as master of Ceremonies, the latter also performed the last rites of the church at the cemetery. The funeral was one of the largest ever held in Butler county, the church being filled to its utmost capacity. The remains were interred in St. Francis Cemetery adjoining the church. Mrs. Eiting was one of the most devoted Catholics and a practical christian in every sense of the word. She always endeavored to conform her whole conduct to the teaching of our Divine Savior, and by doing so set many edifying examples to young and old. May God reward her noble and exemplary christian life; may she rest in peace.
